And there're almost always nasi lemak, otah and rojak anchoring at laksa stalls in Katong.
Otah otah ! Otak otak!
It's de-boned fish (usually mackerel) marinated with coconut milk, freshly ground chilli, onions, lemon grass, blue ginger and turmeric; wrapped in banana leaf that brings its own flavour to the fish, and ability to retain moisture and taste. Do you know...otak means brain, in Malay and Indonesian, as the dish somewhat resembles the brain...soft and squishy.

ReplyDeleteEat life through food, whether it's plain DIY or dine-out!
You like laksa with "hum"? We were at Holland V with colleagues to have Katong Laksa there.
ReplyDeleteWe ordered our food, and one guy ordered later and when it was his turn, they told him no more cockles liao. He was so furious. The guy in front asked for extra one dollar of cockles, and that finished the supply of cockles. haha...
I don't mind "hum" but I'm worried about "hum" being unfresh and lead to diarrohea!
ReplyDeleteWah, seldom see people ask for extra "hum"....only heard of extra "hiam"! kekeke.......
Or, "hum" has became an "in" thing after the "mai hum" saga...Hohohohohh
This seems to be great site for providing food, dine, services for people. I would surely like to try their service.
