Shiokingly good Singapore Part 5-茶餐厅, new kid on the block

One of the first 茶餐厅 to open in Singapore , and it's along East Coast Road. They must be doing quite well since they've opened another branch in Novena. Hong Kong 茶餐厅 or cafes are becoming popular in Singapore, only recently.


We've tried the stewed beef brisket noodles before and know it's good. So, we orderd that.

There are more than 250 items to order from the menu. So if you are one that loves variety in a menu, then this is it!


First time trying their HK fried carrot cake with XO sauce

Hmmm...I remember this shape! Looks almost exactly to what Simcooks has.

    East Coast is really your territory heh!

    BTW I didn't even know my chai tow kuay is HK style. I cut into big cubes becos to fry a slab of it (as in the dim sum style) took too long!

    It's yummy... do try it!

    Live half my life in East Coast, that's why.

    I dunno if yours is HK style coz Hong Kong style is usually a big slab. Maybe the cafe had the same reason as you or maybe they wanted to coat more surface area with XO sauce! hehehehhe..

    i think what koeiru means is that he can't get to eat it. he's also far far away from singapore.


    Lots of HK Cafes around. But not very nice leh. Maybe its my tastebuds. Tried 3 diff ones, and none is a wow-ing as people said it will be.

    I've tried only one (HK cafe @East Coast Raod) but at different times I visited, the quality is not consistent. The first few times (when it just opened) were good (waiting times and queue was also long!) but recently, the standard seem to have dropped, and the portions too...reduced by a lot! And naturally, the queue is not there anymore !
