Instant. Instant. What make instant noodles instant? The noodles or the seasoning?
Indian-flavored "instant" noodles
Ingredients:
-1 pack instant noodle (just use the noodles, no seasoning required)
-1/2 Trader Joes canned tuna
-some edamame beans
-pinches of turmeric spice powder
-pinches of curry powder
-1tbsp of Trader Joes Indian Relish, option (Note: You can use some tomatoes, onions - saute and add some garam masala spice - for flavor)
I promise you could make this instant without the ready-seasonings :)
Method:
1. Cook instant noodles as per normal. Set aside when cooked
2. In a small sauce pan, add in all the ingredients (except the edamame beans) and mix well over low-medium heat for 3-4mins. (Note: The tuna is already cooked, so this step is basically for the spices to blend into the tuna flakes to create a lightly curry-flavored tuna, and warm up the mixture).
3. Add some water, if too dry
4. Add in edamame beans last since you won't want them to be overcooked
5. Once cooked, dish entire mixture over the noodles. The noodles would be just right, soaked with a lil' gravy, not too dry.
A easy noodle dish, fused with light aromatic indian spice and flavors
Hope you like the idea and try it your ways. A more luxurious way of having this is to use fish fillets like Melting Wok.

I actually do have instant noodles in my pantry for "ergency situations such as coming home at 3am after a big night out ;-) I have Indomee Instant mee goreng. I also used to have this spicy korean instant ramen but can't remember the name (I only recognise the packets).

ReplyDeleteI very rarely cook but when I do it's usually fried rice (from leftover chinese take-out), omelette or ramen noodles. So I always have a bag of frozen veggies and some eggs in my fridge.
ReplyDeleteI love instant noodles, especially the IndoMee (dry) and Maggi Curry Mee. But I hate the feeling after eating them because of the MSG in them. I would be thirty all night.
i think most ppl wil keep some instant noodles in their cupboard for lazy or really bsy days. I had tomyum and some udon (spicy n non-spicy). urs look healthy actually =) sometimes i will jt chuck in some green leafs or carrot jt to make myself feel better n healthier =D

ReplyDeleteHaha..I stocked up on Nissin instant noodle when it's on sale for 10 cents or less per pack. I used it to fry mee or mee goreng, like the mamak store. Since I don't use the expensive one to fry mee goreng, too sayang!

cate, the only ramen snack I used uncooked is Mamee snack :D ....love it.
But I never thought of using any other brand like Mamee...hmmm...don't know why.

You are the 2nd person who say these edamame look like stinky petai. Hahhaa...edamame are the beans you usually get when you go for Jap. food just that they are usually "shy" hiding in their pods :D

We just moved in, so today there are zero instant noodles in the pantry, but that will definitely change.

Hi. Long time lurker, 1st time commenting. You can get those ramen sold in a long tube bag, they have no seasoning packages.

Hi Nora B, I was wondering if the type of Korean ramen noodle you were referring to was Shin Ramyun? Mostly black and red packaging?
ReplyDeleteI've had that type of hot and spicy ramen before and I love them :) If that is the brand, you may want to check your local Korean food store. They used to sell them at Albertson's but they've closed the ones where I live.
