Weirdly enough, I only have my Mcdonald's fix outside the United States - a case where the non-USA franchisees taste better. Ditto Burger King and Carls Junior. Wendy's just made a comeback to Singapore recently and I don't think I will get a chance to try it. The Singapore media glamored it (overhype, maybe?) - I have not stepped into any Wendys in the US as far as I can remember.
And because there are really better burgers (St. Johns Bar and Grill right smacked at where I stay in Sunnyvale and In-N-Out Burgers throughout California) in the United States, I don't really crave for Mcdonalds, Burger King and Carls Junior in the States.
To call itself a Prosperity Burger can only be something happening in Asia. The Prosperity Burger is a special menu item currently in Singapore's Mcdonalds, due to the festive season ever since New Year in Jan, and awaiting Chinese New Year in Feb.
It tastes quite ok, something different for once, a change once in a while. The packaging says it all - a burger of beefy goodness and spiced up with black pepper sauce and onions.
Remember? I wrote about Mcdonalds in Taiwan offering Multigrain Burger; and KFC in Taiwan offering Portugese Egg Tarts. I remember Mcdonalds Nasi Lemak and Chicken Congee in Singapore too. You can always check out my "chomp chomp" in Taiwan and Singapore.
What is the most memorable or festive goodie offered by your local Mcdonalds, KFC, Burger King or any popular fast-food chain ?

Hahaa...I still remember I had soy bean milk in KFC, China.
ReplyDeleteWhen i was in Indonesia, I still remember all the fast food chains offer local taste to be survived :).
ReplyDeleteKFC offers rice, chicken corn soup, corn on the cob, yakiniku with rice or french fries, perkedel (chicken and potato fritters), teh botol, oriental bento.
Mc Donalds offers chicken rice porridge, rendang burger, sate burger, fried chicken combo with rice and omelet,
To accompany ketchup, All those fast food chains have hot sauce.
I don't think Wendy's had a great place in people's mind as no rice offered :)
Yeah I don't eat this when I go back too. But I think I have chicken rice at KFC Genting.
ReplyDeleteIt' so interesting to hear how foods are branded during the holidays. It may have tasted okay, but your pictures are very good!
ReplyDeleteWho doesn't need a little bite of prosperity once in a while??? Gee, I can't remember the last time I was in a Fast Food place. Does Friendly's count???
ReplyDeleteI'm certainly surprised to discover the fast food chains offer such "personalized service."
Thanks for sharing...
I love this peppery goodness! I sure miss it.
ReplyDeleteTastes in food are going to be different anywhere you go. The tastes of someone in the Midwest are not going to be the same as someone in the Carolinas
ReplyDeleteOne burger is enough for a meal. Hmm...yummy!
ReplyDeleteI have yet to try the Prosperity burger in Singapore. Funny, I just don't like meat in my meals nowadays and have been eating more greens. Getting old.... Yucks.
ReplyDeleteI used to be a McChicken sandwich addict. That special sauce still makes me swoon. But I haven't eaten it in YEARS. So now the memory just makes me swoon.
ReplyDeleteI really like the sound of all of these McDonald's ethnic special burgers. They should introduce some of them here. To mix it up.
Not sure whether they have the chicken version one this year?
ReplyDeletehmm yes, you gotta love it when an American Based franchise makes its way overseas,in a way it gets re branded with a touch of it's host country culture. But I must agree totally, in n out or Mcdonalds? In and Out all day. Great article take care...
ReplyDeletehello, I like the prosperity burger , the peppery taste of it although i think i prefer KFC to Macdonald.
ReplyDeleteBut I enjoyed reading all your meatless posts! ;)
ReplyDeleteThey also do that at McDonalds here in the Philippines..
ReplyDeleteWe have the prosperity beef set in Malaysia too, around RM9 something with chips & coke. We din like it , maybe bcoz it was messy dripping wet and stained our very clean palms and also tasted like stale meat
ReplyDeletehaha, it's true that wif in-n-out in California, you don't have to eat Mac in US! eat more mac when you are here lol
ReplyDeleteI love McD's outside US. In Asia the ice cream is cheaper and usually there are interesting items. About 5 years ago I had a Korean Beef Pita Wrap in Hong Kong. It tasted just like a restaurants! (the beef)
ReplyDeleteAs for the US, the thing I pretty much like is the Angus Third Pounders (mushroom and swiss version). McDouble/Cheeseburger/Double Cheeseburger when I want to pay less, and Filet O Fish for fish option. And I like the Big Mac as well. Breakfast, I like the Sausage and Egg McMuffin, the Sausage Biscuit, and the pancakes.
