Saving up to buy a house

If you are on first time buyer mortgage, do you find any trouble securing your first house? Well, that's what I have constantly heard over the news. While talking to my friend back in the Bay Area, she told me that currently, the waiting time for rental apartments can be as long as six months, or at least three months. It is indeed difficult to secure a mortgage but I do have my stand in the news snippet about first-time buyers squandering their money (source: www.earth.co.uk) as well. Almost 42% of people in the UK who are saving towards a deposit for a house have allowed distractions to get in their way and have spent more instead of saving more for their house. For other news and to get quotes on mortgages, check out the above provided source.

I find this an interesting subject. When I lived with hubby in DK, we were poor students, but were still able to purchase a flat. Prices were more reasonable and there was a lot of help for home buyers.

We wanted to purchase anything when we lived in the Bay Area, but it was outrageous. You could have a job that paid over $100K, but still not afford a place. Not only were the prices outrageous, but the bidding wars often ended up tacking $50K to $100K to the price of a home! That's one of the reasons we didn't return to the Bay Area after I finished grad school.
