Muffin-Style French Toast Popovers
Does this French toast look like a popover? or maybe, again, resemble a muffin?
Another easy way to make individual servings French toast is to use a muffin tin or ramekin.
If you prefer to serve family-style, make French toast in a shallow baking dish, like a casserole.
No matter how they look, these French toasts are made from leftover French bread loaf after making Garlic Bread Toast. This is a great way to revive days-old dry bread and bring boring to life!
Muffin-Style French Toast Popovers
Ingredients:
6-8oz French bread, torn into small cubes
1/4 cup raisins,adjust accordingly
3-4 eggs, lightly whisked
1 cup milk, adjust accordingly
Pinch of ground cinnamon
Hazelnut spread or any nut butter, to serve with French toast, optional
Directions: Preheat oven 350F. Gently whisk the eggs and milk with ground cinnamon and set aside. Place and press the cubes of bread and raisins into small ramekin(s), muffin tin or baking dish. Pour the egg+milk mixture over the bread and allow the bread to soak up the egg+milk mixture for about 15mins. Bake in 350F oven for about 30mins or till mixture puffs up and turn golden brown.
Note: No sugar used in the recipe as I will be slathering hazelnut spread (a.k.a Nutella!) and peanut butter over the French toast!
